A staple of the MA Human Rights is the yearly visit to Geneva, Switzerland. Finally, after two years the students of the Master were able to visit the beautiful human rights capital last month. The 2020 and 2021 batch attended together and had many interesting meetings and sessions. The excursion began by observing the 51st session of the Human Rights Council, in interactive dialogues with the Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, Working Group on Enforced Disappearances and later with the Independent Expert on Older Persons. The group was able to tour the iconic Palais des Nations and witness firsthand the operations of the United Nations.

The students also met with representatives of the International Service for Human Rights, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. The students learned more about the important work of these agencies and institutions and learned about potential career paths at these offices after completing their studies.
