Prof. Dr. Markus Krajewski

Professor Markus Krajewski is a legal scholar and one of the academic directors of FAU’s M.A. Human Rights. He teaches the general international human rights law course, and a specialization seminar on business and human rights in the MA programme. In addition, he co-teaches the course on human rights research methods, and the seminar on non-discrimination.

Markus joined FAU as professor of public international law in 2010 and also teaches European, constitutional, and administrative law at FAU’s School of Law. In his current research, he focuses on business and human rights as well as on the impact of trade and investment on human rights.

Prior to his current position, Markus taught at King’s College London and at the universities of Potsdam and Bremen. Between 2009 and 2010, he co-directed a programme on international trade law supporting Ethiopian law schools at Addis Ababa University. Markus has also been a visiting professor inter alia at the universities of Berne and Lucerne (Switzerland), the European University Institute (Florence), and St Thomas University (Miami, USA).

Markus serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the German Institute for Human Rights, Germany’s national human rights institution. He frequently acts as expert in the German and European Parliament and advises international organisations, parliamentary groups, trade unions and civil society organisations on international economic law issues and human rights.
