Berlin Excursion 2022

Last week students of the 2021/2022 and 2019/2020 batches went on an excursion to Berlin. The students had two full days of meeting experts and professionals in various human rights nonprofits and government agencies. The group met with Markus Löning, Germany’s former human rights commissioner; Silvia Rojas-Castro, Legal Advisor International Crimes and Accountability for the European Center for Constitutional and Human Rights; Anne Schroeter of Investigative Commons; Dimitra Andritsou of Forensic Architecture; Dr. Judith Striek, Scientific Associate at the German Institute for Human Rights; Yervand Shirinyan, Program Deputy Director at Open Society Foundations; and Member of Parliament and Human Rights Committee member Boris Mijatovic of Alliance 90/The Greens Member and his policy advisor Christina Gels.

The group enjoyed a guided tour of the Topography of Terror museum, and Prof. Dr. Katrin Kinzelbach gave a tour of key places along the Berlin Wall, ending the excursion with a group reflection at the Berlin Wall memorial.
