Thoughts on the programme: My decision to pursue the M.A. in Human Rights at FAU is grounded in the program’s unique interdisciplinary structure, blending philosophical, political, and legal perspectives. The distinctive amalgamation of these perspectives played a pivotal role in my choice of FAU. Beyond theoretical exploration, the program effectively navigates real-life and contemporary human rights issues, ensuring a practical grasp of their complexities. A notable strength of the program lies in the diverse backgrounds of both faculty and peers. This diversity creates a dynamic learning environment, transcending conventional academic boundaries and fostering rich interactions. The multifaceted nature of the program enhances overall engagement, providing a comprehensive understanding of human rights.
Professional background: My academic background lies in politics, philosophy, and religion. My research endeavours include in-depth exploration of conflict management, specifically concentrating on ethnically based political conflicts, with Ethiopia serving as a focal case study. A significant part of my professional experience has been dedicated to offering practical support to asylum-seeking migrants in Bavaria, Germany, confronted with challenging situations in their home countries, such as political repression, tribal conflicts, economic hardships, and a severe lack of religious freedom. Moreover, I actively engaged in diverse projects centered on providing development aid in crisis areas. I assumed a prominent role in leading charitable initiatives dedicated to supporting underprivileged children in Ethiopia.
