Dr. James Walker

Professorship International Politics of Human Rights | University of Erlangen-Nürnberg

Dr. James Walker has a PhD in Political Geography from UCLA, and teaches the specialization course on the Internet and Human Rights. Combining critical geopolitics, International Practice Theory (IPT), and Science and Technology Studies (STS), his work focuses on the impact of new technologies for human rights oriented non-state actors. In particular, he studies the adoption of Remote Sensing (RS) technology by INGO groups engaged in documentation and advocacy concerning war crimes, crimes against humanity, and other major violations of international humanitarian and human rights law.
