Thoughts on the programme: As a social worker, human rights, solidarity, and social justice are important reference frameworks for professional work. I wanted to deepen my understanding of theoretical discourses about human rights and current political debates and combine it with my previous work experience. It equips us with the foundations of human rights from a legal, political, and philosophical perspective and offers the opportunity to specialize in specific issues in this field.

The diverse backgrounds of my fellow students and our professors’ experience are a huge contribution to the discussion in the seminars and lectures and the program in general.

Professional background: I worked in a women’s rights organization assisting migrant and refugee women who experienced gender-based violence and victims of trafficking in human beings. We were offering psycho-social counselling, counselling on asylum procedures, and psycho-social support in criminal trials. Another crucial part of the work was awareness-raising for gender-specific issues and advocacy work at the local and regional level. Besides my professional work experience, I am involved in different social and political contexts and actively part of a regional group of Amnesty-International.
